Job title: Chemical Engineer (footwear – HCM or North of Vietnam)

Job description: Main responsibilities:
- Ensure availability of high-quality rubber, EVA, PU, and thermoplastic components and adhesives domestically from Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.
- Serve as the main technical expert for chemical-related matters within the business unit.
- Supervise adherence to industry-leading practices in treatment, priming, adhesion, and bonding processes at Tier 1, collaborating closely with suppliers for continuous improvement.
- Investigate and resolve root causes of quality issues related to various materials and processes, ensuring compliance and adjusting formulations as needed.
- Manage costs associated with compounds and adhesives, validating cost breakdowns for fair deals.
- Lead efforts to reduce volatile organic compound emissions and implement new technologies for production efficiency and sustainability, such as PU direct injection soling.
- Support sustainability initiatives with suppliers and internal teams, focusing on environmentally friendly materials and manufacturing processes.
Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent professional background
- At least 15 years of experience in polymer development and production of footwear
- Thorough understanding of rubber, EVA, PU, and foam manufacturing processes
- Expertise in compounding bottoming materials for footwear (Rubber, EVA, PU, TPU, TPE, and other polymers and foaming materials…)
- Proficiency in the commercialization process of footwear bottom components, coupled with product and process engineering knowledge
- Familiarity with industrial test standards applicable to footwear bottom components
- Good English
